Deanna Kovacs began her love affair with New Mexico while studying watercolor at the University of Houston in 1988. During annual visits to Santa Fe and Taos, she began photographing and painting the rugged landscape, Southwestern architecture and magnificent skies. She was an active member of the Watercolor Society of Houston and a founding member of the Cinco Ranch Area Art League.
In 2000, Deanna moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico where she continues to photograph and paint the Southwest and all its local color. In addition to watercolor painting, she has discovered encaustic painting (pigmented beeswax). Both of these mediums enable her to capture the rugged landscapes and magnificent skies.
Deanna shows and sells her work in the Santa Fe Studio Tour, local shows and privately. You can visit her studio by appointment and view her website at www.deannakovacs.com .
